Serenity is flying free once more, still carrying the Tams, though thoughts of hiding are far from their minds. It has been months since the incident that ultimately led to the truth being revealed about how the Reavers truly came to be, leaving a shocked and angered 'Verse. Even members of Parliament who had not known of the Pax or Miranda were furious, mostly because they had been left in the dark on such a major decision. So the Alliance has enough to deal with, and have broken off their search for the Tams, removing any warrants still present. But someone else has not. The secret "school" that River Tam had been sent to, the one that had meddled with her mind, is not pleased at having lost their star pupil so close to success. And they have another, not quite so exemplary as River, but just as competant in doing what he has been conditioned for: Retrieval.
